Here's what's happenin' around town:

Special Announcement. The remaining Center for World Music spring concerts will continue at the La Jolla Community Center next Friday with a concert by the Muralikrishnan Carnatic Quartet. The WOW Festival got underway at UCSD and will continue throughout the weekend.

Friday and Saturday, comedian Eric D’Alessandro will perform at Mic Drop Comedy.

Friday, performances for Anastasia: The Musical will begin at California Center for the Arts. The play The 39 Steps will open at New Village Arts in Carlsbad. At the JCC, there will be a dinner talk with the wonderful Kitty Morse, who will share some recipes and talk about her book, Bitter Sweet: A Wartime Journal and Heirloom Recipes from Occupied France. Nepalese singer Ram Krishna Dhakal will perform at the Dancing Yak Nepali Cuisine restaurant. The French American School will screen the film Youssef Salem A Du Succes.

Saturday and Sunday, there will be a Tequila & Taco Music Festival at the Snapdragon Stadium (where Qualcomm Stadium used to be). Also, next Saturday and Sunday, Magdalene the Musical will be performed at STAR Repertory Theatre in Escondido.

Saturday, the House of Scotland will hold their annual Tartan Day. The UTSHOB Holi Festival (previously scheduled for 3/30) will be held at Westview Park. At UCSD's School of Arts and Humanities, the film Rally will be shown. The Cooper Family Foundation will hold a Gospel Extravaganza on 70th Street. At the Hole in the Wall, Forró Touch will perform Forró music for dancing. Taiko group Drum Tao will perform at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts. At the California Center of the Arts, there will be a dance performance of Soatsintle - Her Eyes, Her Story. Community Choirs from Tijuana & San Diego will perform at The Forum in the East Village. The Quartyard will hold a 9th Year Anniversary Party featuring music by Miguel Migs and Mitchum Yacoub. The Goran Radovanović film Enclave will screen at the Serbian Cultural Center. The Poway Library will hold a Holi Celebration. At the Seaside Center for Spiritual Living, Ghatam Karthick’s heArtbeat program will be performed.

Next Sunday, there will be a Gudhipadwa Celebration (Spring Celebration) at Mesa Verde Middle School. At the Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center, countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński will perform with the chamber orchestra Il Pomo d’Oro. At the California Center for the Arts in Escondido, the 10th Annual Mariachi Festival will feature Mariachi Los Camperos, Tierra Caliente Academy & LuMaya. Earl Thomas and the Gospel Ambassadors will perform at UC San Diego Park and Market. Legendary Mexican singer-songwriter Gabino Palomares will perform at Centro Cultural de la Raza. At the Angelika Film Center, the documentary Fioretta will be screened with a Q&A to be held afterward.

Monday, Mexican singer Kalimba will perform at Music Box. Monty Python legend John Cleese will perform at the Balboa Theatre with an additional show on Tuesday.

Tuesday, Gondwana will perform at the Music Box. The Digital Gym will show a video of the film Demonlover.

Former Daily Show host Trevor Noah will be at Balboa Theatre on Thursday and throughout the entire weekend.

Thursday, the film Through the Lens Darkly will be screened at the Digital Gym. The Italian Film Festival will show Grazie Ragazz (Thank You Guys) at La Paloma. Contra-Tiempo Activist Dance Theater will perform at Epstein Family Amphitheater.

The San Diego Arab Film Festival will begin at the Museum of Photographic Arts. Films will be screened this Friday and Saturday and continue throughout the following weekend.

Next Friday, the Center for World Music will present the Muralikrishnan Carnatic Quartet at the La Jolla Community Center. The movie Skin Deep will be shown at the Digital Gym as part of the German Currents Kino series. There will be additional screenings Sunday and the following Wednesday. Lo Mejor del Rock en Español will be rockin' out at the House of Blues. There will be an Italian Lounge Concert at Oasis.

Next Saturday, the House of Spain will hold their annual Lawn Program at the International Cottages. The SDSU Pow Wow will celebrate its 52nd year. At the Central Library, Zoe Ghahremani and Susie Ghahremani will discuss their latest children's book, Memory Garden. There will be a Pysanka Master Class led by Olenka Kleban at the Hall of Nations in Balboa Park. At the Museum of Making Music, Jesús Florido & Giovanni Piacentini will perform. Mexican stand-up comedian Sofía Niño de Rivera will perform at the Magnolia in El Cajon. Legendary percussionist Pete "Pops" Escovedo will be at the Music Box. There will be a Socrafro Carnival at Corazon Del Barrio on Logan Avenue. At Bread & Salt filmmaker Isaac Artenstein will discuss his latest film project. At Verbatim Books there will be a Poetry Reading and Book Talk featuring four different Latina writers.

Next Sunday, the House of Türkiye Lawn Program will take place at the International Cottages. There will be a Tijuana Music Fest at Rancho La Laguna. Bulls of Sant'Agata Charge Little Italy will be an event featuring Lamborghini cars. At the Buga Korean BBQ Restaurant, there will be a Korean Dinner Adventure where A.H. Kim will discuss her book, Relative Strangers. At the LOT Liberty Station, there will be a Havana Night with lots of Cuban music and cuisine. Abel Selaocoe and Manchester Collective will perform at the Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center in La Jolla. The San Diego Early Music Society will present the German vocal quintet Amarcord at St James by-the-Sea. At the Sound (Del Mar Racetrack) there will be a Super Cumbia concert featuring numerous Cumbia bands.

Local theatrical productions include Ride at the Old Globe, Stew at Scripps Ranch Theatre, Anastasia: The Musical at California Center for the Arts, and The 39 Steps at New Village Arts in Carlsbad.
